If you thought the dysfunctional family was a recent invention,
see the monstrous, theatrical and ultra-Bohemian 1920s Bliss family
in action after they discover they have all invited guests to the
family home for the weekend, with each being promised the Japanese
room!
The Bliss family in everyday pose
Welcome to Hay Fever, Noel Coward's sparkling masterpiece,
which, although written in only three days, he regarded as his
best comedy.
Studio Theatre's production is directed by Paula
Morante with performances at Studio Theatre, Ilfracombe College
at 7.45pm from Wednesday 28th February to Friday 2nd March 2007.
Extra date: by popular demand an extra performance
is being stage at Manor Hall, Berrynarbor at 7.45pm at Manor Hall,
Berrynarbor. Tickets from Berrynarbor Post Office or on the door.
We are pleased to welcome new members to this production
who join some of our well-known actors:
Judith Bliss Su Scott Goldstone
David Bliss Alan Bailey
Sorel Bliss Fenella Hinton
Simon Bliss Sam Thomas
Myra Arundel Marge Ash
Richard Greatham Tony Parker
Jackie Coryton Sara Pruce
Sandy Tyrell Darren Gosling
Clara Julie Moore
Mr and Mrs Bliss both have their public admirers
who enable them to recall their past successes: she for her stage
performances and he for his novel writing. This atmosphere of
self-absorption and artistic adulation has had an effect on their
son and daughter, now in their early twenties, who are confident
and charming to those they like, but direct and rude to those
they don't.
Be amazed at the way the family and guests face
the situation, fraught with misunderstandings, chaos and hilarity.
As the bewildered guests are subjected to one outrageous ordeal
after another, will they ever manage to escape?
Tickets are priced £6 and are available
from Alan Jackson Shoe Repairer in Ilfracombe High Street or from
Berrynarbor Post Office for the Manor Hall performance, by calling
Anne Bacon on 01271 882193 or emailing drama@studiotheatreonline.org.uk.
Or pay on the door.
