Simmering zimmers shimmer in Showtime

“Will it be a success or a failure?” ask the characters in The Producers in the finale of Lee Baxendale’s latest musical spectacular, Showtime, produced for Studio Theatre at the Landmark Theatre on Sundays 12th & 19th August 2007 at 8.15pm.
Once again bringing to North Devon something entirely different from anything else you’ve ever seen, Showtime features the famous sequence from The Producers when 10 grannies dance with their zimmer frames (courtesy of Braunton Mobility).
“Rehearsals have been great fun,” comments Lee. “And it’s been a challenge to tackle songs from such new musicals.”
As well as The Producers, Showtime features song and dance excerpts from musicals including Gypsy, Wicked, The Sound of Music, Can-Can and Kiss Me Kate.
The cast includes Charlene Bettis, Mike Bennett, Laurence Butler, Jennifer Horsman, Liz Kemp, Elena Wright, Rosanna Yeo and, of course, Lee Baxendale, who devised and directed the production. Choreography is by Pamela Beecham, while the five-piece band is led by Neil Perrin.
Showtime offers a riot of song, fun and wickedly comic moments.
